Punk Rock Homecoming Princess

Dances and parties this year are coming up way to soon for my taste. If it were up to me I'd still be longing by the pool with an ice cold drink in hand, oversized glasses and a bunch of magazines. Since stopping time isn't something I've mastered quite yet I decided to get to work on my party outfits. I mean I love school when homework, midterms and AP prep isn't getting in my way. Mostly because I get to buy a bunch of cute new stuff cuz summer maxis just won't cut it in the middle of a thunderstorm. Here is one of my first outfits that works for a party and Homecoming 2009. I love, love, love, the fuchsia color mixed with plaid on this dress. I can totally rock it at Homecoming and then casually show up with it at the after party. I mean let's face it. As much as I adore princess ball gowns; sometimes they can get in the way of, well, movement. This dress is cute but not too cutesy. The black bow is just the perfect touch. I added the leather bomber jacket (yes again!) because it works with everything and its not as prim as a shrug, shawl or bolero. If I wore those I'd totally kill my rocker chick vibe, no? Since the bomber is short it works really well with the dress because I can still show off the bow and the bubble hem. Plus this actually keeps me warm! I love clutches but too be honest I need more than lip gloss so I substituted it with a wallet with 2 compartments for my cash and ID and my gloss, mirror and house keys. I also added a ton of gunmetal bracelets and cute little black shoes that have a bow that matches the dress'. When I finished this look the Something Corporate song totally came to mind "If you could be my punk rock princess, I would be your garage band king."

Get the Look: Miley Cyrus at Teen Choice Awards 2009

Miley Cyrus looked so cute yet dangerous in her sequin mini at the Teen Choice awards. This look is perfect for going out to the club with friends. The fun should really be had with the accessories. It would be really hard to go over board (although it can be done) with the accessories. This look requires a ton of necklaces and bracelets to keep the rocker vibe. We did add a little leather bomber jacket to her look because the nights are starting to cool off. What do you think? Would you add anything to it?

Get the Look

Lauren Conrad always manages to look so chic and cute whenever she goes out. Her look screams effortless and easy. I love the fact that she mixes high end pieces with affordable items so that I can always manage to get her look without actually spending a lot. Take this Jay Godfrey dress for example. It retails for around $400. For that much I'd rather save a little longer and buy some Louboutins or a Chanel purse that I can wear over and over again. It's always smarter to spend less on cute and trendy items that I am only going to wear once. Although I love this new take on the LBD, to be quite honest fringe is something reserved for specific times. So here is what I'd put together to imitate her look without breaking the bank.
