Three Way Thursday: The Silver Sequin Skirt

Skirt: $14.90

Sequins and sparkly things are kind of awesome. We just can't have enough. Sometimes we can get stumped on different ways to wear this trend but luckily we have our trusted S and I* to help us solve this problem. We brought them the skirt and said help! and this is what they came up with.

The first look is in the middle of dressy and pseudo casual. I'd totally wear this out to dinner or even lunch. I know it may seem like too much but trust me it's not. If you think that the heels are overdoing it for lunch thrown on some chucks and that'll totally dress down the look.

Top//Skirt//Ring//Necklace//Clutch

The second look is more of an evening look and since June gloom seems to be in effect we had to add some leggings for survival. What can we say in California anything below 70 is freezing!

Vest//Leggings//Clutch//Cuff

The third look is a look that's perfect for the office especially if you plan on going out after work. The blazer tones down the look perfectly don't you think?

What do you think? Will you be trying out this piece too? If you do post a pic on our wall!

Awkward and Awesome Thursday

So the lovely Sydney from The Daybook came up with this idea quite some time ago and it is by far one of our favorite posts. I like feeling that I'm a normal spaz just like everyone else. No one is perfect and that is ok. To help me with this post (which if you like I'll keep going on a weekly basis along with Three Way Thursday) I asked about what awkward and awesome things happened to my office coworkers. Let's just say that even fashionistas have their disasters and they're all not fashion related. For the protection of people's egos no names have been used. Here we go!

Awkward:
Being in a room full of coworkers and being unable to open the door. Remember to turn the knob and then pull
Trying really hard to pay attention to someone speak while simultaneuously ignoring the loud rumbly in our tummies
Being a very nice coworker and trying on a new rhinestone bustier for sizing purposes. Sparkly bra and working environment do not mix at all times
Typing the wrong URL and landing in a completely work inappropriate site. Did we mention this was in a meeting with some VERY important people
Locking a coworker in the office after hours. Police were called and gates were broken.
Running out of coffee and fearing for the lives of your coworkers.
Losing the car keys at an off site photoshoot for HOURS and then finding them on the car door.
Texting and walking thus not realizing that we walked into the mens restroom until we saw the men
Calling the driver incessantly to ask for the spare keys of aforementioned car and finally having someone pick up only to have him say "This is Alfredo who is this man who keeps getting calls from women! Every day I get messages from women saying they need this guy to come and get things for them. You have the wrong number!"

Awesome:
Employee apprecciation day= free lunch for everyone! Did we mention we have the best bosses/owners of the company? We really do.

Getting ready for a 3 day weekend. We love our jobs but who doesn’t love a day off!
Finally being able to help customers overseas! International customers and APO customers shop away!
Our new “Like” button on the site. Have you Liked Windsor today?
Being sent to IMATS for research

Getting to make outfits for fun based on our own style
Heading out with the buyers so they can listen to our opinion and then having them bring the items in! Did we mention we work with awesome people?
Mini.Diet.Cokes. Happiness in a can!
Carly Cristman's Summer Picks and oh yeah her videos!
Katie from Running on Happiness rocking our skirt like no ones business

New arrivals coming in on employee shopping day
Seeing our items in both Redbook AND PSW this month. (Slightly awkward moment happened when we realized that one of our items made the cover and we werent paying attention while walking thus leading to us crashing into the mirror. Pain is not awesome.)

Now tell us your awkward and awesome moments this week. We'd love to hear that you're normal like us!

On Trend Tuesday: Selena Gomez Rocks

We. Love. Selena. Gomez. Wizards of Waverly place is one of my all time favorite shows. I mean it has magic, humor, drama and werewolves! Selena Gomez is a great actress and a great comedian but what we love the most about her is her style! The girl can mix her clothing like no one's business. She always manages to look put together yet casual and polished. What's that about? It isn't fair that she can have so much talent right?

We recreated her look with our just arrived liquid leggings. What do you think? Did we get the look close to hers?

Must Read Monday: Cross My Heart by Katie Klein

Boy oh boy was this a good book! I was totally not expecting the ending! Cross My Heart definitely makes it to my list of top 10 books and believe you me, that is not an easily accomplished feat. This book was a double treat, at least for me, because not only was it REALLY good it also introduced me to a new author, Katie Klein. As I had mentioned a few posts ago, I am trying to make a conscious effort to stray from my normally loved authors and find new and up and coming authors.

What It's About:
Cross My Heart by Katie Klein is a book that centers around Jaden McEntyre, a high school senior with a type A personality and Parker Whalen, the quintessential bad boy who of course she has the pleasure of being paired up with. Jaden is focused and determined to get into Harvard while Parker's reputation for being a trouble maker precedes him.
As they work together on their project, Jaden starts to realize that everything she thought she knew about Parker was not even close. There is a big secret Parker is hiding and Jaden knows that she needs to find out. She starts ditching her boyfriend and doing things out of the norm for her in order to get to know Parker but what he's hiding you can't even imagine.

Why You Should Buy It:
I know, I know, "Ugh, great, another book about the good girl that falls in love with the bad boy. Gimme a break!" Wrong, my dearest friends. This book is SO not what you're expecting. I'll have to be honest and tell you that when I first started reading it I was a little iffy about it because I thought the same thing. I ended up continuing to read the book because the writing is so good but boy was I ever pleasantly surprised at how good this book is! I couldn't put it down! I love the relationship that builds within Jaden and Parker and I love the interaction between the characters. I loved the fact that these characters' interactions seemed legitimate. There is no paranormal romance going on here or some intense unrealistic situations. In fact alot of the things that the characters go through are very relatable for students both in High School and in College. I love the issues of trying to figure out who you are, who you want to be and how to combine that with the person your friends and family think you are. This is definitely a book worth your time and the fact that you can download it to your Kindle or your computer for $3.99 is ah-mazing!

I guarantee that if you download this book you won't regret it! If you do buy it let me know if you agree with my review. I want to hear your thoughts. Any books I should review next let me know in the comments.

Three Way Thursday: Liquid Leggings

Liquid Leggings: $16.90
Liquid leggings made an arrival a few seasons ago and they don't seem to be going anywhere. We wanted to show you that they are actually quite wearable and unlike leather pants they are not only comfy they are also cruelty free.

We did three different looks and we really tried to mix them up a bit to show you that you CAN dress them up or down.

Blazer//Cami//Necklace//Skirt//Belt//Sunglasses

The first look is a the more "office friendly" of the three looks. It is definitely a little more fashion forward than your basic suit but I think keeping your outfits fun at work can make all the difference in your work day don't you think?

Romper//Top//Hat//Earrings

This is actually a great look, in my humble opinion, for a casual get together with the girls. It's also an easier way to be more covered up in the cool Summer nights when wearing a romper.

Top//Hat//Leggings//Shoes//Watch

This is the simplest of the outfits but it might also be mi favorite look. Sometimes simple is the best way to go.

How would you wear these leggings?

Inspiration Wednesday: The Perfect Office

I came across this image on Pinterest and when I saw it my jaw literally dropped. Seriously made for some awkward looks but what can I say, I have an expressive face. Aaaaaanyway, this to me epitomizes office perfection. The desk looks nothing like the chaos that tends to surround me but this is what I strive for my desk to look like at the end of the day. Carly Cristman mentioned that she would be revamping her room gathering inspiration from this image and I can't help but be a little jealous but I digress. Since we all can't have this dream office, I figured we can at least let it inspire our outfit.

The color palette is very soft and relaxing. In a work environment relaxation has to be acquired wherever you can get it. So why not relax thanks to your lovely outfit?

Dress//Shoes//Fedora//Bag(get 20% off with code 20PEOPLE)//Necklace//Earrings//Polish

Who would have thought that a room could make an outfit but I think we did an ok job of it don't you think?
I'm quite fond of this outfit because the dress is my Summer must have item. The cut is perfect, the color is soft and I can dress it up or down plus the price doesn't hurt.

On Trend Tuesday: Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff has gone from Disney pop princess to a certifiable fashionista. Whether she is dressing up or down, she always manages to look boho chic without looking like she is trying to hard. The image above is showcasing two of the latest Summer trends; colored bottoms and relaxed tops.

Top//Bottoms//Cami//Sandals//Necklace//Ring//Gloss//Polish

Our look is kept somewhat simple but we did take a fashion risk and added an orange cami. I know what you are thinking, orange and blue are you nuts?! Maybe I am just a little but I think because the rest of the look was kept simple and we did put a loose fitting top over it, the outfit somehow works. As a preference I always prefer to keep crop tops a little loose so I always tend to go buy at least 1 size larger to have a more relaxed look. I added some silver gladiators and VERY simple accessories. I want the blue pants to be the center of attention without being too loud. What do you think of this look? Is it a good dupe?

Must Read Monday: Hourglass by Myra McEntire

Hourglass by Myra McEntire just hit book stands and kindle stands last week and let me tell I devoured this book. It was such a breath of fresh air because it didn't deal with angels, vampires or werewolves.

What It's About:
Emerson Cole has had some rough moments in her life. While she is lucky enough to have a great home life with her brother and his wife, Emerson continually deals with her feelings about the passing of her parents. Aside from the she suffers from apparitions she thinks are ghosts but they are something else entirely. Her brother, the well intentioned big brother that he is, brings in a consultant to help her with these visions. She decides to give it a shot. Now you may think that she does this out of love for her brother or out of an actual need for a "cure" but really she wants to know what the heck is going on with her and the fact that the consultant is cute doesn't hurt. Aside from the fact that this mysterious guy is cute he is also an enigma himself. He is hiding something as well and the fact that an electric charge seems to run through them whenever they touch just adds to the mystery.

Why You Should Read It:
The mystery of course! This book is definitely different and when you actually find out what's going on with Emerson and Michael you don't get all the answers you're hoping for but the book is amazing nonetheless (it is part of a series after all). There's a love triangle thrown in for good measure but the actual premise of the book is so good you'll find yourself having a hard time putting it down. I love the heroine. Emerson is an independent, feisty and strong young woman. I love books that depict girls as their own hero's and not as the damsel in distress. Definitely pick this book up for the Summer. I guarantee you that you'll finish it before you know and I'm sure you'll love it too!

Let me know if you pick this book up and what you think about it.

Three Way Thursday: The Leopard Skirt

Leopard Skirt: $22.90
I know what you're thinking. There's no way that I am going to wear so much leopard! Trust me when I tell you that this is a skirt that you need in your closet. It is beyond versatile, it's affordable and it's comfortable.

The first look is a trendy look for cocktails with the girls. We turned the skirt into a dress/mini skirt and added the perfect coral clutch.

Vest//Skirt//Clutch//Bracelets

The second look is a perfect look for the club. It's a little more rock and roll and it only required one item of clothing.

Skirt//Belt//Clutch//Bracelets//Necklace

The third look might just be my favorite. I love the mix of prints and the pop of the the red envelope clutch offsets the leopard print.

Inspiration Wednesday: We're Going Back to the 80s!

This week we're reminiscing about the 80s. Can you blame us? We can't get enough of Katy Perry's Last Friday Night video. I know we're going old school on this but there's something about the nostalgia that comes from looking at a shoe that was such a staple in our wardrobe. While we are NOT taking our actual look to the 80s, we still want to show you how these shoes translate to the 2000s.

What do you think of our outfit. Can you see the inspiration? Now we leave you with Katy Perry's new video. Do you love it!

Must Read Monday: Angel Burn by L.A Weatherly

via Amazon

I came across this book title through Seventeen magazine. Now, I don't know about you but Seventeen is a magazine that has never steered me wrong so of course I am going to take their advice on books. I'm glad I did. This is definitely a different take on the ever present Angel books.

What It's About:
Angel Burn by L.A. Weatherly is a book about angels but not in the sense that your're used to. In this story Angels are actually the bad guys. The story centers around Willow and Alex. Willow is a girl that has had her share of bad luck. She isn't the quintessential girl. She has to be extremely self-sufficient because of her mom's illness. She does have a psychic gift and although it should be a huge part of the story, her gift is just a small part of who she is and who she is becoming. After doing a reading for a classmate she realizes that something weird is going on. Of course as soon as she starts thinking something's up a guy, Alex, walks into the picture. Alex is an angel killer who has been sent to "take care" of Willow. Now, without revealing too much of the story, this is around the time that some events lead to Alex taking Willow instead of killing her. It is after him taking her that the real story begins.

Why You Should Read It:
The fact that the story is actually a twist on the over saturated angel genre is enough for me to recommend this book. This is the first book in a trilogy so you're definitely not left with a completely satisfying conclusion but the story is definitely worth the read. There is a love story but really the main thing about this book that I really liked was the fact that you're learning about Willow at the same time she is. I am not fond of books where you feel like you are trying to catch up to what the characters already know. Alex and Willow are both learning about this whole other world at the same time the reader is. I love the idea of angels not being completely good or completely evil. This is definitely a quick read. I don't mean that it's short it's just a book that you'll find a hard time putting down because you want to know what happens. About the only thing bad that I found with this book is the fact that I have to wait until October to find out what happens next. Patience is not a virtue I possess my friends. If you pick it up tell me your thoughts in the comments!

Three Way Thursday: The Chambray Pants

Pants $39.90
While Summer is one of my favorite seasons I have to admit that I hate the gross and sticky feeling I get as we enter the months of unbearable heat. There are some fabrics that just do NOT breathe and they make for a very uncomfortable girl. Enter the lightweight trousers above. They are the perfect substitute for black trousers that seem to absorb heat. These trousers are perfect. They are on the dressier side and they breathe plus the price doesn't hurt either. The thing with these pants is that the material and color can scare people off because they aren't sure as to how to wear them in different ways.

Top//Bottoms//Clutch//Scarf//Pearls

The first look is one of my favs because of the pops of coral. Nothing screams Summer to me more than coral. By the way the "necklace" is actually a scarf!

Top//Bottoms//Clutch//Scarf

In this second look we cuffed the hem of the pants to dress them down and make them look less office-y. Again, we made a carf pull double duty by wrapping it as a belt.

The last look is perfection for a day by the pool in Palm Springs. Floppy hats are one of the MUST have items this Summer so make sure you stock up.

Inspiration Wednesday: Wedding Cake

Maybe it's sad but one of my favorite parts about a wedding, aside from the loving couple of course, is the wedding cake. Not only are they beyond yummy, they never fail to disappoint in their beauty. This month we all have weddings coming up so of course, a wedding cake will serve as the inspiration for our outfit. I decided to give our look a twist by taking a fancy cake and making a casual outfit.

The colors are totally neutral with a few pops of color. Understated fashion to say the least. Make sure to use the pearl necklace as a bracelet. The top itself is a standout piece.
