Must Watch Monday (technically Sunday if you don't Hulu it lol): Once Upon a Time

Via ABC

I have been in a reading rut. I've been searching for a good book for you guys but it seems like all the good books are waiting for the holiday season to get here to come out. Queue the tv. I try to avoid watching too much tv because it can be so easy to just get stuck in front of it. As it is I already have a few shows that I have to watch during the week. You already know I am obsessed with Revenge and The Ringer and Covert Affairs is coming back soon. Add Once Upon a Time and that's four hours of tv. My only saving grace is that those hours aren't consecutive.

What It's About:
Once Upon a Time is a show that flip flops between a story world and the "real world." The story centers around Snow White, her Prince, the Evil Witch and Snow White's daughter. The Evil Queen casts a spell to take all of the fairy tale characters from the story world to the most horrible world they can imagine; our world. The kicker is that no one knows that they're really a fairy tale character except for Henry, Snow White's grandson.

Why You Should Watch It:
Ginnifer Goodwin and and Jennifer Morrison are superb! I'm a huge fan of Ginnifer and she does not disappoint. I love the idea behind the show and it's not something that I've seen lately. I know there are a ton of shows out there that deal with the super natural but none that deal with fairy tales. The story is original and although there have only been two episodes so far I have high hopes for it. Only time will tell. I was on the fence about the show but then it had a part where "Emma" asks Snow White why she gave the little boy the fairy tale book and she says that fairy tales teach you to always have hope for a happy ending in spite of the obstacles. I think a show that makes this message the main focus has a lot of potential for greatness. We'll see. Check it out and tell me what you think.

On a side note, if you have any books that you recommend please leave me a comment and I'll check them out.

**Forgot to add that the show airs Sundays at 8pm

1 Whole Wheat Roll Sliced
1/4 Cup Green Apple Slices
2 Tbsp Lower Sugar Grape Jelly
1 Tbsp All Natural Peanut Butter With Omega 3!

There will be plenty of candy , sugary and greasy snacks all around at Halloween parties! It's okay to consume those in proportion, but why not add healthier snacks to the table!?

After eating a couple pieces of candy it's hard to pass up on a couple more.

The peanut butter and jelly combination helps ease your sweet tooth while giving your body healthy nutrients.
Filling up on empty calories from candy and sugar make our bodies tired and crash much faster.
The natural sugar from the apples gives us long lasting energy and healthy vitamins.

Three Way Thursday: The Chunky Vest

Chunky Vest: $42.90

Well this vest came into our offices and I feel in love. Seriously, it's Fall-ish without being overly bulky. The possibilities are endless. This week we started doing something different. Instead of just having S and I style the look three different ways, I actually got 2 people to do the looks. D and Y took a look each and then they collaborated on the third look.

The first look is the collab look. I love that it looks casual but not sloppy.

Top//Pants//Boots//Watch//Necklace

The second look is a little more spunky and rock chic. You can thank D for this look.

The last look comes courtesy of Y and she did a great job with this Fall outfit. I swear if you saw each girl you could totally tell it's exactly how they would wear this vest.

Inspiration Wednesday: More S'mores Please

via Pinterest
Halloween has us inevitably thinking about sugar. That's why when I saw this image of a S'more taken to another level I felt that if I could actually enjoy it at the time at least I could let the color palette inspire my Fall outfit.

Aside from looking super yummy, the color palette is perfect for Fall. Lot's of neutrals. Our fav!

On Trend Tuesday: Cameron Diaz

via Pinterest

I've always thought that Cameron Diaz's style is amazing. It's simple and not over the top. It's feminine without being frilly and it's wearable. While some of us don't have legs for days we can still emulate her style. I love the black and white look she has going on here. While we, of course, recreate her look with Windsor items, I think most girls have similar items in their closets making this look totally easy to duplicate.

Must Read Monday: Matchbookmag.com

Via Matchbookmag.com
I know I've mentioned this online magazine before and I figured it was due for a Monday Must post. I am legitimately obessed with this magazine. If I had to pay for it I totally would!

What It's About:
Life. I don't even know how else to describe it. The magazine is a little hodgepodge of things. It talks about fashion, cooking and does fantastic interviews. The spreads are amazing! Just take a look at this spread from their current issue!

Why You Should Read It:
Aside from the fact that it's free? Well, the spreads are amazing. Seriously this online magazine is a favorite of mine when looking for inspiration. I love the fact that all the items in the issue are clickable and are available at the touch of a mouse. It's just full of such a variety of well written articles and I seriously read every one. It's not often that a magazine manages to get me to do that. Bonus: in this issue their is a recipe for some amazing brownies! What are you waiting for?! Head on over right now and see if you love it as much as we do!

Fab Fit Friday: Fine Print

After watching the documentary "Food Inc." I am going to be very cautious of where my food comes from. Make sure you foods are safe before you consume them. Reading labels and knowing the history of the companies keeps you ahead of the game. Organic foods are the safest but sometimes it's not always available. Keep yourself safe and aware of what you are eating.

Always wash your fruits and vegetables.

Make sure your meat is ALWAYS fully cooked.

Never eat foods with open packaging.

Shop at local farms.

For more ways to stay safe and healthy with your foods you can go to :

Three Way Thursday: Halloween Edition

So this week we are going to switch up the post a little. Instead of using one thing 3 ways we want to show you that you can totally put together a last minute Halloween costume with things that are already in your closet. You just need a few minor accessories to finish up the look and your set.

Dress//Shoes//Gloves//Earrings//Clutch

The first look is our "angel" look. We just added white and sparkles and some small wings and voila.

The second look is our trendy native american look.

The last look is my favorite! We just added our fringe dress and a headband and now you'll have an instant flapper.

Inspiration Wednesday: Audrey Hepburn-ish

via

I have a slight obession with Audrey Hepburn. Particularly her Breakfast at Tiffany's look. I came across this image and I love that this little girl is totally pulling the look off without completely replicating the look. This gave me the idea that you can totally get the Breakfast at Tiffany's look without it looking identical to her original look.

The colors are pretty basic and I think most girls have them in their closet.

What do you think? Does this look evoke the Audrey feel? Oh and don't forget to add a trench coat!

Kate Moss will forever be my fashion icon. The girl can pull anything off. I mean here she manages to dress up a pair of jeans with such simple things. Things that I think every girl should have in her closet.

Must Read Monday: There You'll Find Me by Jenny B. Jones

Amazon: $6.36
You guys know I love to read right? Well here's a little something about me that I am not proud of; I absolutely abhor reading any sad books. Yes, I do read books with difficult subject matter but it takes me a while to get to them. You know that episode in Friends where Joey puts Little Women in the freezer because he knows that Beth isn't going to make it? Well if I could I would totally put my Kindle in the freezer with some of these books. I have had Before I Die by Jenny Downham in my pending pile for weeks. I know it's a great book but I just can't bring myself to read it just yet.
The thing is that these type of books are usually the ones that are the best type of books to read because they get you thinking. Yes I love chick lit but I as much as I detest being a snotty mess I love finishing a book and feeling like I get what the author was trying to say.
This is the case with There You'll Find me by Jenny B. Jones.

What It's About:
Finley Sinclair has signed up to go to Ireland as a foreign exchange student after a very difficult year. She lost her brother in a horrible tragedy and this led to her downward spiral into hard partying. She comes from a family that is well off so her antic were highly publicized. She travels to Ireland to recreate her brothers own journey so that she can find some answers and an old cross which she feels will help her finish a composition she did for her brother and which she will use for an audition.
While on the plane she ends up sitting next to the latest teen movie heartthrob but, of course, she is unimpressed and he is smitten. The story is one of her Finley's journey, not just to find her brother's cross but also a journey of rediscovering who she is without him and a journey to finding something bigger than herself.

Why You Should Read It:
Again, there are some types of books that I avoid. I am not particularly fond of preachy books that tell me how I should think about a specific subject. This book does a spectacular job of talking about God without preaching religion. Finley doesn't feel like God is listening because of everything she has done. This journey is her road to discovering that she really isn't alone and she isn't as bad a person as she thinks she is.
Finley definitely has alot of issues that stem from the loss of her brother and she definitely feels like God abandoned her. The thing about this book is that this isn't a book about finding religion or God. Yes, it talks about God but really this book is about Finley finding herself after she has lost herself in the midst of tragedy. It's a book about rebuilding your life in spite of the hardships that life has handed out. You can't find fault with a book that talks about hope for the future and talks about finding strength within oneself to grow and evolve into a better and stronger person.

I really hope you'll read this book because it has such a positive message. Be prepared to laugh and most definitely cry.

Fab Fit Friday: Pumpcake Patches

The most exciting thing about fall is pumpkins! (and pie)

It's time to take advantage of the fall weather before the winter blows in!

There are so many fall activities, but my favorite is the pumpkin patch!

It's so easy to just stop at a local grocery store, pick a pumpkin and take it home, but what's the fun in that?!

Try to find a local farm with a pumpkin patch! Not only are the pumpkins in better condition it helps out your local farmers!

My boyfriend and I took a long walk through a pumpkin patch in a competition to see who could find the perfect pumpkin ( I won obviously haha) Walking through the pumpkin patch is a creative way to work in fun and exercise. It's also a perfect date idea!

We found several pumpkins, ones for painting and ones for carving when Halloween gets closer.

I painted my pumpkin into a cupcake! Added Sparkles and Sticky Rhinestones.

I can't wait to start carving next weekend! Don't forget to save and dry out those pumpkin seeds for my healthy pumpkin seed recipe.

Three Way Thursday: The Beige Poncho

Beige Poncho
Half of the time when I pick the Three Way Thursday item it is because I think the item is cute and the other half of the time I pick it because I think it's cute but I wonder how to wear it more than one way. The latter applies to this poncho. Luckily for me S and I totally handled this challenge like the pros that they are.

The first look is sweet and girlie and I love the lady bag! This outfit is a two for one deal because the skirt is actually a dress!

Dress//Tights//Flats//Bag//Ring

This second look is little more hip. I love the contrast of the material of the poncho against the animal print skirt.

Skirt//Belt//Boots//Clutch//Necklace
The last look seemed like a great idea before we got hit with a 90+ degree heatwave in California. Seriously what is up with this weather. Shouldn't it be raining already....Sigh..

Anyway, at least we're helping you prep for when the weather actually does what it's supposed to.

Will you be picking up any of the items above? Let me know how you would wear this poncho in the comments.

Inspiration Wednesday: Sixteen Candles

via Pinterest
Ok so Sixteen Candles was before my time but whenever it plays on TV I have to admit that I have to watch it if only for Jake Ryan. I know he's older now but I have the hugest crush on him in this movie. Molly Ringwald was the teen queen at the time and her clothes were the thing to wear. While we aren't going to interpret her look literally we are going to try and evoke the feel of her look.

I think the colors are perfection. You know I love pinky nude colors. Here is our take on this movie. What do you think?

On Trend Tuesday: Olivia Palermo

via
I'm a huge fan of Olivia Palermo's style. She is classic with a twist. I love that she always has something special on her outfit while still maintaining its wearability.

While we couldn't recreate the look exactly, here is our take on her outfit.

Must Watch Monday (technically Wednesday): Revenge

Revenge Website

As you know I am a sucker for a good plot. Obviously you know I love a good mystery thanks to my review of Ringer. Well brace yourselves for yet another dra-mystery (yes I am aware that I made that word up) that I think you should all be watching. Revenge is so good and I can't wait until the next episode!

What It's About:
Emily Thorne aka Amanda has come back to the Hamptons to (gasp!) get revenge on the people that participated in the demise of her dad. There are so many people who used her dad as a scapegoat for a crime he obviously didn't commit. This of course ended up with her going to a juvenile detention center and her father going to jail and passing away. Nolan comes to her aid when she turns 18 and tells her that her dad left her pretty loaded. Along with this message she also learns that the didn't commit the crimes he was accused of. What's a girl to do but get revenge right?

Why You Should Watch It:
It's SO good. Ok, ok I know that I say that about everything I review on Monday's but I mean it! The show is so good and I love a show that has awesome clothes. I love the clean, preppy look the actors have and the location is amazing! I love a good mystery and this show definitely has that. I know the plot is out in the open but I still feel like this show is one of those shows that will have a surprise when you least expect it. I can feel it coming. Emily Van Camp is one of my favorite actresses. She is so versatile. She plays a lady but in one of the previous episodes she totally beat up Nolan! Gotta respect a girl that can take care of herself. Another favorite of mine is Ashley Madekwe. I love her snappy attitude and her style is impeccable. Check out her blog for way more awesome looks!

Don't forget to check out the show on ABC on Wednesday's at 10pm or watch it online on the ABC website.

Three Way Thursday: The Statement Flower

Flower Pin
I've been a huge fan of the oversize flower ever since Carrie from Sex and the City popped on to my TV wearing one. When this awesome pin arrived in our office I just knew that the possibilities were endless when it came to styling it. Here are just three ways to wear it.

The first look mixes sweet and sexy. It shows that you can wear a sweet neutral flower with a fierce animal print skirt.

The second look is a little more funky but we love the way that the stripe blazer mixes looks with the flower.

Inspiration Wednesday: Dream Shoes

via Pinterest

The right pair of shoes can change your day around. A pair like the one's above can change your life. Cinderella is proof that the right pair of shoes can have quite a drastic effect on your life. That's why I just had to use these shoes as an inspiration point for today's outfit. Since I can't really afford to spend an insane amount of money on the Miu Miu pair pictured above I can at least let these gorgeous shoes inspire my outfit.

I love the color palette for the shoes! It's neutral in a bright kinda way if that makes any sense lol.
