Inspiration Wednesday: Sometimes You Just Need a Little Glitter

Via Pinterest

Ok, first of all kudos to me because the sun is still out and I managed to get the post up! Join me in woo hoo-ing! Second, ever feel like your day is a little blah. Not that there is anything wrong with your day it just seems to be rushing by and you're getting everything done but it feels, I don't know, off? All I can think about to describe this feeling is ennui. Well, you know what snaps me right out of that feeling? Sparkles! That's why today's post is inspired by the one thing that always makes me feel better because its just simply pretty, glitter!

I'm very fond of this palette because if there ever was something that should be a color its's glitter. Plus, my second favorite color for Spring and Summer is turquoise (first place goes to coral).

On Trend Tuesday: Stacy Keibler aka George's Girl

Via Pinterest/JustJared

Have you ever noticed that Monday is reeaaaaaaally far away from Friday but Friday is reaaaaaaally close to Monday? Have you  noticed that you always have 1 million billion things to do on Monday and yet even though you have so many work hours in the day there is always that one little thing that you forget to do and you remember that you didn't do it at 3 am while dead asleep? Well girls that was me. I totally spaced and forgot to do my weekly review! Sad thing is that I was so excited about it because I went to see The Hunger Games (I know shocking right?) and I wanted to tell you all about it! I'll review it next week along with something else to make up for my goof yesterday. In the meantime, please enjoy this lovely post which I did in fact remember to the end of the day. This is what I call progress people. Maybe tomorrow I'll remember before the sun goes down. Please remind me on Facebook that I should post k? How I forget one of my favorite things to do in the day I'll never know. How I manage to remember style numbers for dresses from last year by heart is just a cruel joke my brain plays on me.

I actually really like this outfit because when you talk about it all you can think is "no, no, no it will not work" but the you see it on and it somehow works. Oh fashion....

Fab Fit Friday: French Toast Skewers

Next time you have your friends over for breakfast make a "Build Your Own French Toast Skewer" bar! It's so simple and a great way to stay healthy!

Crack an egg into a small bowl. Add 3 egg whites along with egg.

Add 2 Tsp Cinnamon.

Cut 4 Pieces of Sara Lee bread into 8 tiny squares per slice.

Do a fast dip into the egg mixture.

Cook each side of toast for 2 minutes.

Pick out your favorite fruits to add to the sticks! I chose blackberry, grapes, strawberries and bananas.

I sprinkled 1 tsp of powdered sugar over all of the toast and a 1/4 cups sugar free syrup.

Each skewer is approximately 35 calories.

Three Way Thursday: Prom Dress Trends 2012 Edition

We're taking a little break from styling something three way to talk about our favorite subject ever...Prom! That's right, its that wonderful time of year where its ALL about dressing up....literally. This is like our Christmas because there are just so many dresses that we wish we could wear. We've been trying to convince everyone at work that we SO need a Windsor prom. Who better to test out the dresses right? Ok, I'm a little off topic so let me get back on track. This post is going to focus on three trends we've crazy about. If you pick any of these three trends you'll definitely rock your prom.

Blush Prom Dresses:

This may just be my favorite trend of the three I am going to talk about. I am a walking contradiction. I tend to stick to flats and my military boots but I wear them with a dress or skirt. Yeah, I am that girl. However, when it comes to dressy dresses the girlier the better and what's a girlier dress than a blush dress. I think blush prom dresses are much more wearable than pink dresses. I'm a beyond pale and you would think that a blush color would wash me out but nope not at all. If you're tan this makes you look even tanner and if you're pale it makes you look almost ethereal. Some of my favorite blush prom dresses are pictured below.

Blush Prom Dress: $184.90
Betsy: Blush Prom Dress: $99.90
Ingrid: Blush Prom Dress

Sequin Prom Dresses:

I don't know about you but I'm a sucker for anything sparkly. It's one of the many, many reasons why we love Carly Cristman as much as we do. No one can do sequins better than her. I think prom is the perfect time to bust out the sparkle. I mean its your last hurrah in High School. Why not walk in and stand out. Here are a few sequin prom dresses that will definitely accomplish that.
Bronze Sequin Prom Dress: $59.90
Neon Prom Dresses:
The last trend is somewhat unexpected and I know it might be a little out there but neon prom dresses are everywhere! The color is definitely for the girl that wants to stand out. This long neon prom dress is so perfect. It's simple and the color is what stands out.

Marilyn: Neon Pink Prom Dresses $179.90

If you think that a long neon prom dress might be too much, don't worry this short version is sweet and fun and the colors are bright without being overwhelming. Plush the shape of this dress is flattering on everyone!

Madonna: Neon Blue Prom Dresses $119.90

What type of dress are you looking for to wear to prom 2012?

A bear and a bear it's like something out of Inception lol. Ok, just kidding but the colors are pretty good for Spring don't you think?

Fab Fit Day: All Natural Veggie Soup

Taralynn's Purse in Gray is available here!
My job can get really busy, and sometimes making smart choices with food is very difficult if I am not prepared. On my way home from work it would be so easy to just stop and pick up fast food without even getting out of my car. There are tons of healthier options at the fast food chains, but if you are anything like me after work I feel like I can eat a whole buffet and looking at the menu may be too tempting. Before I blow all my energy at work I pack my purse with snacks. I put a bag of lettuce with seasoning to munch on when I get the urge to eat just "because" I put a granola bar and apple to have on my way home to keep me content before dinner allowing me to cook something healthy. Before work I eat a healthy breakfast and at work I have a healthy lunch. Going all day without food will end up in a filling disaster later in the evening.

All Natural Vegetable Soup

Now that spring is here and summer is getting closer farmers are producing the freshest vegetables and they taste amazing this time of year. I like to take advantage of the fresh produce and cook with it as much as possible. Here is my recipe for healthy vegetable soup!

  • 1 Large Sweet Potato Skinned and Boiled
  • 1 Large Onion Chopped
  • 1 1/2 Garlic Clove, Minced
  • 4 Cups Water
  • 1 Bunch Kale (Tear into little pieces)
  • 1 Tsp Garlic Salt
  • Salt/Pepper
  • 1 Tsp Cumin
  • 1 Bag Mixed Beans Hydrated
  • 3 Large Celery Stalks Chopped
  • 3 Large Carrots Chopped
  • 1/2 Cup Canned Bamboo Drained
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
  1. After all the vegetables are sliced add to a skillet with olive oil. Cook on medium low for 10 minutes.
  2. Add vegetables, beans, and water to a stove pot on medium.
  3. Add all seasoning until your taste preference is reached.
  4. Let simmer for 20 minutes.
  5. Add more salt and pepper for taste.
Recipe makes 7 Cups.

On Trend Tuesday: Emily VanCamp

You girls know that I LOVE Revenge. Seriously I can't wait until April for the new shows to start. Aside from the story line I absolutely adore the style and clothing on the show. It's simple, sleek and chic. Much like the show, the clothes are subtle and understated but they still create a big impact. It seems that Emily VanCamp has taken this rule of style thumb to her regular wardrobe. How perfect is her outfit. It's casual without being sloppy. Of course we had to recreate it.

Must Shop Monday: City by Windsor

I love all the clothes we carry at Windsor I REALLY do! I mean I couldn't work here if I didn't honestly love them. As much as I love our clothes (I have the bank account statements that prove it) I was so excited to hear that we were getting a more contemporary line! We've only gotten a few pieces in and I already want them all. I want to think of City by Windsor as the older sister to some of our departments. Alot (ok the majority) of our clothes are junior's clothing and although I love them and think they're amazing, I prefer to have a softer silhouette. I love that the City stuff is slightly longer without being frumpy and I love the subtle details that make the items special. I mean these shorts are so beyond adorable and you can totally dress them up or down.

The dresses are so special too. Although they are fairly simple, they can be styled SO many different ways. I think that's my favorite part of City by Windsor, its versatility. I love that the items can be worn together or with existing items in my closet. I love the fact that the items are polished but still reasonably priced. Pretty much I love it all.

There are so many items coming and I can't wait for you to see them! In the meantime go check out the items that just arrived! Which item is your fav?

Three Way Thursday: Lace

We're continuing with our idea of styling a trend three different ways. This one was really fun because one outfit was completely style by a guy, another outfit was picked and styled by a guy and a girl and the last outfit was styled by a girl. I have to say these have been the funnest outfits we've had because its interesting to see a guys' take on a trend.

We'll post the looks and we dare you to tell us who styled what and which look is your fav?

Must Watch TV: Jane by Design

Via ABC Family

I'm a sucker for a good show that relates to fashion but at the same time I am very picky. Usually I get bored easily and tend to change the channel. I mean let's face it most fashion shows nowadays are reality tv shows and while I have to admit that I was as addicted as the next person with ANTM, Project Runway, The Rachel Zoe Project and so on, I suddenly felt like even reality tv shows got predictable. Now don't get me wrong. I still love those shows and Rachel Zoe will forever be my style icon. She can do no wrong. However, I was kinda bored with these shows and then Jane by Design happened. I should really have done the review on this show much sooner but I think since the mid season finale just happened last week this is as good a time as any.

What It's About:
Jane Quimby is a a high school student who, in trying to help her brother with the house finances by applying for an internship, gets hired as an assistant at a fashion house when she is confused for an adult. Far fetched, yes but hey its fashion. You wouldn't believe the things that go on behind the scenes in our offices. In the midst of all of this are three boys; Billy her BFF who of course is in love with her but doesn't know it, Nick (who I think is the cutest of the three) who is Jane's crush and Jeremy, the hot shot designer who starts to fall for Jane. There's also India who is the bad girl who I think isn't that bad (she's my fav character BTW) and who has the best clothes on the show (next to Jane of course).

Why you Should Watch It:
The fashion! Holy smokes the fashion is to die for. I am a skirt and dress girl all the way. The girlier the better. I love Jane's frilly skirts and I love that she mixes them with tougher accessories. I also love the fact that this show is about following your dreams and working hard. Yeah its not easy to make it in this industry and I have to be honest, I think I work for one of the nicest fashion companies out there because as far fetched as some of the story plots seem, some of the stuff does happen. It can get pretty ruthless but Jane manages to stay above all the drama and just do her job. She really is there to work and learn and help and that is why she consistently pulls through all her dilemmas. I honestly love the message that she sends about fashion not being what we, as retailers and designers dictate but the fact that fashion is something that should come from a consumer's demand.

You should really check it out and you can actually catch all the episodes for free on the ABC Family website by click here. Let me know what you think and if there are any other shows I should be watching this season.

Three Way Thursday: Neon!

So for the next few weeks we're going to be switching things up a bit. Instead of picking one items and styling it three ways we are going to be picking a trend and styling it three ways. Funny thing is that we kept each person's outfits a secret and two of them still chose the same item for their outfit. What can we say, great minds right?!
